I feel a little bad giving this a no recommendation since it's an inoffensive and at times amusing game. I just feel like people will get the wrong impression if it nothing but "eh, it's okay" yes votes. There really just isn't much to it, and certainly nothing new. It's very short, and if you're like me most of that short time will be spent replaying bosses, with the areas themselves offering little in the way of challenge or exploration value. And the bosses feel kind of samey, with a lot of dodging stuff that's moving back and forth while jumping less regular projectiles and timing attacks. The plot is just kind of a boring placeholder. The few upgrades are lackluster and don't change the feel of the gameplay much. There isn't really much in the way of extras to find on the map - just a few health upgrades and some cats which only reward you with an achievement. The graphics are minimalistic and low resolution but not without some charm. One thing that did kind of stand out was the music which honestly was kind of bad. I'm a little taken back by the soundtrack actually being for sale.Still, at the end of the day I don't regret getting it or playing it to completion. And I don't personally mind the cost but at $5 it does feel overpriced compared to other offerings in the price category - $2 seems more suitable. Maybe wait for the inevitable sale or price reduction.. A nice game, if a short one.The graphics is simple but pleasant, there are several bosses, and it got a bit of nice humor touches here and there. That said, it is a very short game. Good to pass an evening, tops. Could had used more content, possibly with more upgrades for the weapon avaiable.Personally I enjoyed it all considered.. Spooky Ghosts Dot Com is a charming Metroidvania platformer with a Halloween-ish theme. Combining two of my favorite things - Metroivanias and Halloween - was already enough to sell me, but the fact that it manages to do it well is a huge plus. It does difficulty right, for one thing. I ended up dying a lot (many times on embarrassingly stupid things, I confess), but I was always able to learn more about my environment and how to better take on a boss with each death. I never felt like I was just running into a brick wall over and over. It's hard to do that well, so major kudos to the dev!The game is short and simple, and it's creative with the things it offers. It's certainly worth a look if you enjoy Metroidvanias.. I Recommend it, however for 5 bucks it should of been longer. This game could of been a great metroidvania if it was at least 10x longer\/bigger. Put more time into a game like this in the future.. So far, so good! :) Don't mind the game being short; not everything needs to be a 40+ hr. epic..EDIT: DEV HAS BEEN VERY HELPFUL IN HELPING GET PAST THE ROUGH SPOTS. :) :) :). Its ok if you like platformers I guess, dumb how its about like a ghost hunter with a website yet the game is made for a controller. Also there doesn't seem to be any health pickups which is annoying, seems like trial and error until you get to the first boss and realize its a joke, you get 10 health and the boss takes away most of your life in 1 hit with an unavoidable move. Not very fun if you ask me.. Cute bite-sized Metroidvania that reminded me a lot of Kero Blaster as well as Ghostbusters for the Mega Drive. Controls are a tad unresponsive, but due to the limited scope of the game it never becomes too much of an obstacle.. Very short (~50 minute) mini-metroidvania. The level design is serviceable but unexciting. The same goes for the enemies. I bout it for $3.49 and I think that's about the limit for what this small amount of gameplay is worth..
